Spectrally-efficient frequency division multiplexing (SEFDM) can transmit the same amount of data in a narrower bandwidth than orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) by narrowing the frequency spacing of each subcarrier.
In this report, we consider the modulation matrix of the SEFDM from the viewpoint of singular value decomposition and propose a randomized discrete Fourier transform spread SEFDM (RDFT-s-SEFDM).
In the RDFT-s-SEFDM, the orthogonality of each subcarrier is maintained, while the information on the subcarriers is spread non-orthogonally to the compressed band by the randomized DFT matrix.
We also propose a low-complexity demodulation method using the expectation propagation by using the characteristics of the modulation matrix of the RDFT-s-SEFDM.
It is shown that the path diversity effect can be obtained in the frequency selective Rayleigh fading channel, and that the demodulation is sufficiently possible even when the bandwidth is reduced to 62.5%, when QPSK is used for the subcarrier modulation. |
