[Short Paper] Evaluation of Geographic Object Selection Based on Level-of-Detail Control for Schematic Map Generation

(in English) Schematic maps, commonly used in tourist maps and guidebooks, have advantage of allowing users to easily obtain the necessary information by limiting the display to specific regions. However, generation of schematic maps involves multiple stages that can be burdensome for the map creators, such as selecting and discarding geographic objects and roads to be displayed. In this research, we propose a recommendation method for determining which geographic objects should be displayed during the generation of schematic maps, utilizing the level of detail of the digital map and the geographic objects displayed. In this paper, we discuss the effectiveness of our method by using the geographic objects selected by examinees as the ground truth data.
