Design of Fourth-order Symmetric Box-Coupling Microstrip Bandpass Filters with Transmission Zeros for Asymmetric Frequency Responses

(in English) Bandpass filters (BPFs) composed of four resonators as a basic component have been proposed so far, such as CQ filters. However, asymmetric coupling is required to achieve asymmetric characteristics, in which transmission zeros (TZs) are placed only at either lower or upper side of the stopband, leading to a complicated design. In this paper, we propose a new fourth-order symmetric box-type coupling configuration that can generate up to two TZs asymmetrically. The coupling configuration requires a different sign of coupling coefficients according to two transmission-zero frequency positions, so that we propose new two microstrip filter structures that can provide asymmetric responses. As an example, we design fourth-order microstrip BPFs with two TZs located asymmetrically with a center frequency 2 GHz and 100-MHz bandwidth. The effectiveness of the proposed filter is verified by the comparison between the EM-simulated and measured results.
