Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) In ensemble performances such as orchestra and band, it is well known that the tempo of performance gradually accelerates. Okano et al. conducted a series of pair-tapping experiments in which pairs of tappers maintained a constant tempo while synchronizing with their partner. They demonstrated that tapping was accelerated in pairs compared to solo tapping, and elucidated the mechanism of this acceleration. In this study, aiming to suppress the acceleration of tapping, we conducted a tapping experiment in which pairs of subjects were assigned different roles in addition to the experiment of Okano et al. The purpose was to investigate whether the acceleration of tapping and the coordination pattern differed depending on whether the subjects played a role or not. The results showed that tempo increased in pair tapping compared to solo tapping for all subjects, but there was no significant difference in tempo increase between the presence and absence of a role. No clear differences in coordination patterns were observed between roles.
