In this paper, we investigate a method for clustering UE-specific transmission TRPs in downlink cell-free multi-input multi-output (MIMO) assuming that the transmission reception points (TRPs) distributed over the system coverage know only part of instantaneous channel state information (CSI). As a beamforming (BF) method based on partial CSI, the conventional method utilizes a layered partially non-orthogonal zero forcing (ZF) method and selects transmitting TRP groups based on the estimates of received power after BF and interference power to increase system throughput. However, it is difficult for the conventional method to keep the scalability since the method calculates the metric considering all UEs in system coverage and updates transmitting TRP groups in order. Therefore, we propose a method that selects suitable transmitting TRP groups while reducing the computational complexity of the calculation of the metric. The proposed method calculates the metric for each UE only considering the UE cluster that comprises near UEs. Computer simulations demonstrate that the proposed method can achieve high geometric-mean and worst user throughput while keeping the scalability. |
