Numerical Method Simplification of Edge Diffraction in the Vertical Plane of the Path in Urban Microcell Environment

(in English) To simplify the calculation of the multiple screen diffraction model, three scenarios of screen arrangements were assumed and analyzed utilizing the UTD (Uniform Theory of Diffraction) method. Since the diffraction model was proposed for propagation loss estimation in urban areas, the authors focused on building height to facilitate the numerical calculations. The traditional multiple-screen diffraction model was a significant error due to approximation, but it was reduced by deploying screen arrangements. As an arrangement method, applying the distribution of building heights to the multiple screens was proposed and analyzed the calculation results. When the building height followed an exponential distribution, the distance between diffracted edges was assumed to follow a Poisson distribution. And results show that the propagation losses against distance characteristics were within the theoretical, and the calculation time was reduced.
