An Initial Study on Object Detection under Car Body with Wi-Fi CSI

(in English) Detecting the passage of objects under the car is essential because the obstacles under the car interfere with the car's safe driving. Since Wi-Fi Channel State Information (CSI) represents the state of multipath propagation between transmitting and receiving antennas, objects are expected to be detected from variations in CSI. In this paper, three transmitting and three receiving antennas are installed under the car to measure CSI. For the initial study, objects passing under the car are a 2L plastic bottle and a tennis ball. The CSI variation values obtained from the correlation matrix of CSI amplitude components are used to determine the passage of objects under the car, and the difference in detection rates depending on the object type and the object's passage path is clarified.
