PAPR Reduction Method Using Null Space in MIMO Channel for MIMO-OFDM Signals at Multiple-Antenna AF Relay Station Considering Direct Link

(in English) In this study, assuming downlink amplify-and-forward (AF)-type relaying of multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO)-orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) signal, we propose a peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) reduction method using null space in MIMO channel considering direct link between base station (BS) and user equipment (UE) as well as the relaying link via RS by only using the signal processing at the BS. The proposed method is realized by alternately repeating the generation of the signal that reduces the PAPR at the BS transmitter and the signal that reduces the PAPR at the RS transmitter, where both PAPR reduction signals are transmitted from the BS to the null space of the MIMO channel in both the relay and direct links which results in the reduced interference caused by the PAPR reduction signal to the data stream observed at the UE receiver. Based on the computer simulation assuming a nonlinear power amplifier, we show that the proposed method achieves better PAPR reduction performance at the BS and RS compared to the previous methods.
