[Invited Lecture] Energy-Efficient Collections of Informative Data from Wireless IoT Networks

(in English) In this talk, we discuss how to efficiently collect informative data for users of IoT sensor networks. We first investigate how to save energy for aggregated query, which only extracts necessary data for users of wireless sensor networks, such as mean, variance, maximum, minimum, top–k set, and distribution of observed data. Specifically, we focus on top–k query, which aims to collect k highest readings inside a network, and show that data collections with small energy consumption and low delay can be achieved by the integration of wake–up control with probability density estimation of the observed data. Then, we investigate how to extract informative data from the network in a timely manner when the sensor readings very over time. We show that the query timing plays an important role to keep high degree of timeliness of the extracted data while achieving energy saving by only activating a minimum set of required nodes. Through these investigations, we discuss what the informative data is and how to efficiently extract
them in wireless networks.
