Signal Processing Technique Using Antenna-Coupled Electrode Electro-Optic Phase Modulator and Optical Fiber Dispersion Effect

(in English) Future Beyond-5G wireless systems will require the development of new signal processing technologies to support even higher transmission speeds, lower latency, and higher carrier frequencies. In the ultra-high-frequency bands of millimeter wave band and THz band, propagation losses in free space and cables are high, so Radio-over-Fiber (RoF) technology, which converts wireless signals into optical signals and transmits them over low-loss silica optical fiber, is effective. Our laboratory is developing a new signal processing technique based on RoF technology that utilizes multiple laser lights, the wavelength dispersion effect of quartz optical fibers, and an antenna electro-optic phase modulator. This enables detection and demodulation at the same time of reception. In this paper, the principle of the proposed signal processing technique and the experimental results using 30 GHz-Band wireless signals is presented.
