(in English) On 11 May 2023, the European Parliament's Committee on the Internal Market and Committee on Civil Liberties adopted by a majority the first ever mandatory artificial intelligence rules under negotiation. This marked a major step forward in the passage of the AI Act proposed by the European Commission: on 14 June, the AI Act bill was adopted by a majority vote in a plenary session of the European Parliament. On the same day, the European Parliament on the AI Act also published amendments from the Commission's proposal. This paper provides an overview of the state of debate in the European Parliament and analyses the prospects for the AI Act. This paper provides an overview of the proposed parliamentary amendments and an analysis of the recitals up to 59.
