Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) In manga, character faces are an important factor for the character’s attraction and help readers to understand the character’s thought or feeling. In order to draw character faces properly, it is necessary to draw in considering with positional relationship of each face parts such as eye or mouth, gender and age. However, most of the cases, it relies on author’s experience or impression. Therefore, it is difficult for an author to identify reasons for the feel of incongruity that results from face part’s shape or positional relationship when he or she draw character faces. To solve this problem, in this research, we propose a system which reduces the incongruity feel of impression for a face by changing each face part’s positional relationship from a face image of manga character that sometimes makes the feel of incongruity resulting from face part’s positional relationship. First, the proposed system extracts landmark positions using DAN, and then calculates the head pose of the face image by solving a PnP problem from the model landmarks to extracted landmarks. Finally, the morphing process is used to correct the positions of the face parts. The experiment to evaluate whether the image whose face parts position was changed by the system is more appropriate in terms of the face parts position than input image was conducted. It showed that 11 out of 20 images are evaluated as changed images are appropriate. On the other hand, it was suggested that the proposed system should take into account the emotions in the frames of the input image, since it is believed that the character’s emotions are expressed by a shift from an average face.
