In this study, we propose several 2-bit approximate adders with different architectures, primarily utilizing five-input and three-input majority gates, which can easily be integrated with other AQFP logic gates. These proposed approximate adders aim to reduce circuit complexity without compromising accuracy significantly. We evaluate the effectiveness of our designs by analyzing Josephson junction counts, circuit delays and error metrics. Notably, one of our proposed 2-bit approximate adders outperforms state-of-the-art designs, demonstrating superior performance. By leveraging the low power consumption of AQFP and the benefits of approximate computing, we can achieve high energy-efficient approximate adders that strike a balance between performance and accuracy. |
