Pulse self-oscillation based on regeneratively and harmonically mode-locking is extremely stable, though its repetition rate fluctuates with device temperature. A phase-locked loop using a frequency synthesizer as a reference signal source has been reported as a method to fix the repetition rate. In this paper, we report the experimental results of a regeneratively and rational-harmonically mode-locked fiber laser system in which the laser cavity length is controlled by a phase-locked loop to fix the repetition rate. The system was able to fix the repetition rate for 2 hours and 20 minutes, during which time a drift in the oscillation spectrum was observed. We present a theoretical investigation of the drift in the spectrum with consideration for chromatic dispersion of the ring cavity and its temperature dependence. |
