As communication traffic capacity increases, there is a need for optical signal processing to support longer distance and higher capacity communication. In this study, we focus on photonic digital-to-analog conversion using a frequency chirp in quantum-dot semiconductor optical amplifiers. This phenomenon is caused by refractive index change due to gain change in the amplifier, and blue chirp, which shifts the frequency to the short wavelength side, is characterized by its low dependence on the input power. Using this feature, we experimentally demonstrated the conversion that aims to achieve higher resolution. |
