Position Estimation Using LPWAN toward Non-Line-of-sight Three-dimensional Positioning at Construction Sites

(in English) Information and communication technologies have been made use in construction sites recently. At large-scale construction sites, wireless positioning technology is expected to visualize locations of equipment and workers, through communication network, for improving safety of workers and efficiency of management of equipment. However, no wireless networks exist in such buildings. Moreover, building conditions can change drastically from moment to moment. Therefore, to establish three-dimensional positioning technology that can cover the entire building with a small number of nodes at the construction site is a challenge. In this presentation, we propose a three-dimensional position estimation scheme using 920MHz-band LoRaWAN at construction sites. In the proposed method, positioning is performed by collecting the received-signal-strength-indication (RSSI) between a small number of sparsely distributed gateways in a building and a end device. We show the effectiveness of the proposed technique when applied to LoRaWAN in the 920 MHz band through indoor experiments under various environments including actual construction sites.
