Non-terrestrial network(NTN), consisting of high altitude platform station(HAPS) along with conventional geostationary satellites, has received significant attention in recent years. In order to achieve sufficient coverage, the signal constellation should be designed by considering the peak-to average power ratio(PAPR), which leads to nonlinear distortion by a high power amplifier. In addition, high spectral efficiency is required to provide sufficient service to users within the coverage area. Based on this background, we consider non-orthogonal multiple access(NOMA) from a geostationary satellite to a HAPS and a ground base station(BS). Since the transmitted signal of NOMA generally suffers from high PAPR due to superposition coding, we propose a PAPR reduction approach that offsets the modulation signal of each user. We demonstrate that our proposed system can effectively reduce the PAPR without degradation on the error rate performance by flexibly designing the rate of the Polar code. |
