Photovoltaic (PV) systems with batteries require separate converters to control the PV panels and batteries, which leads to system complexity and size increases. This paper proposes a multi-port converter (MPC) that integrates multiple converters into a single converter to achieve simplification and downsizing of PV systems. By cascading two converters, the circuit is simplified because only one inductor is required. In addition, the interleaved operation reduces the current ripple of the inductor and further downsize the inductor. The operation analysis and actual device verification of a 300 W prototype circuit are reported. |
