Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) In recent years, while Non-Terrestrial Network (NTN) have been attracting attention in Beyond 5G / 6G, in order to provide a wide range of mobile services. In a LEO (Low Earth Orbit) system, one of the NTN elements, high-speed signals such as video signals or a large amount of data and low-speed signals such as IoT (Internet of Things) senser data would be simultaneously transmitted over a same LEO transponder. In this case, an FDMA (Frequency Division Multiple Access) scheme needs guard bands to avoid adjacent channel interferences among high- and low-speed signals. However, it requires additional bandwidths for low-speed signals as the number of high-speed signals increases. To solve this problem, the conventional superposed transmission scheme has been proposed to both high- and low-signals simultaneously over the same transponder. It expands the low-speed signal’s required bandwidth by CDMA (Code Division Multiple Access) spectrum spreading and superposes the low-speed CDMA signals with extremely lower transmission power over the high-speed signals. In the superposed transmission scheme, CDMA is also useful because its excellent interference immunity and multiple connectivity. However, in the conventional scheme, single carrier modulations have only been used for high-speed signals.
In this report, we propose a new superposed transmission scheme in which OFDM (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) modulation is applied to high-speed signals. Computer simulations are performed to clarify the bit error rate performances of the both high-speed OFDM signals and low-speed CDMA signals, and the number of simultaneous transmitted CDMA channels is quantitatively demonstrated.
