With the recent rapid evolution in wireless communications, the demand for high-quality, low-latency transmission and the importance of radio monitoring services to maintain the radio environments are increasing. The blind signal separation technology is expected to address these issues effectively. One of the algorithms used in blind signal separation with an array antenna is KMA (Kurtosis Maximization Algorithm). KMA uses higher-order statistics called a fourth-order cumulant, which requires a large number of snapshots (samples) to operate correctly. Therefore, this study examines the number of data-smoothing samples required for the array weight update in adaptive sequential processing. Also, when using KMA for signal separation, it is necessary to apply weight orthogonalization to avoid some weights capturing the same signal. We evaluate the effect of this process on the signal separation performance and propose an improved weight orthogonalization scheme to enhance the performance. |
