Effect of Time Lag between Image and Sound during Various User Audiovisual Integration

(in English) We have been researching and developing video streaming solutions for sports games, music events, and other entertainment fields. Our goal is to create a virtual space where both content online streamer and content receivers can feel a sense of unity. To enable this, we have created a system that supports receiving audio/visual reactions from multiple content receivers to deliver them as feedbacks to the online streamer. However, network latency causes a discrepancy in the timing of feedback received from each receiver, which causes a feeling of lack of unity, or non-synchronization. It is impossible to completely eliminate the network latency today. As our proposal, we conducted psychophysical experiments to clarify the range of discomfort that the temporal misalignment of image and sound causes to people in various actions (repetitive action, acyclic action, and fluctuation of periodicity) received from multiple remote receivers. This paper illustrates the results of the experiment.
