We propose a ribbon-shaped optical fiber (MCF ribbon) consisting MCFs and SMFs, which is designed to fix the twisted condition of MCFs internally. The strain distributions along MCF ribbon and SMF in MCF ribbon were measured with Brillouin optical time domain reflectometry (BOTDR). Using these measurement results, the strain distributions in bending of the MCFs were calculated to analyze the condition of the cores inside the MCF ribbon. As a result, we could find the twisting condition is fixed internally and applicability for shape sensing are demonstrated. |
