Channel assignment methods on wireless communication systems using multi-link operations

(in English) Multi-link operation (MLO) is a new feature proposed to be of the IEEE 802.11be Extremely High Throughput (EHT) amendment. MLO aims to realize high transfer speed and high reliability of wireless data. On MLO, data is concurrently transmitted through multiple links using different frequency channels. In order to maximize the overall system performance, the number of links and their operating channels should be carefully selected. Especially, in dense scenarios, improper selections deteriorate the total performance due to increased mutual contentions among access points. The channel assignment problem of MLO will be not only an extension of that of SLO (single link operation). In this paper, two channel assignments on MLO are proposed based on simple LCCS (Least Congested Channel Search) algorithms. One is an extension algorithm of SLO; LCCS-AAL (Always All links). The other is an algorithm to take MLO’s feature into account; LCCS-OSL (Occasionally Selected Links). The performance of two algorithms is evaluated by computer simulations.
