Transmission Performance and Handover Control Technique of 60-GHz Wireless LAN on Indoor Open Environment

(in English) Wireless communication system using high-frequency bands requires in-sight communication due to straightness of radio waves, so reflective path communication caused by shielding degrades transmission capacity. This paper targets to enable the usage of high-frequency communication to indoor open environment such affected by shielding, experimentally evaluates transmission performance of high-frequency wireless communication using 60-GHz wireless LAN. This paper also proposes two handover techniques based on terminal beam information and on signal quality information to provide in-sight communication in indoor environment and evaluates the techniques experimentally. The results show that the technique based on signal quality information increases high-throughput area from 60% to 80%.
