Bandwidth Expansion and Communication Performance Improvement of In-Body HF-UWB Small Antenna by Pre-Emphasis

(in English) For implantable wireless communication inside and outside the human body, the use of the 10-60 MHz weak radio band has been proposed because of its low signal attenuation and wide bandwidth. However, it is difficult to design a small antenna to sufficiently use the wide bandwidth, and inter-symbol interference occurs due to the narrower communication bandwidth caused by the smaller antennas, resulting in degradation of characteristics during high-speed communication above 20 Mbps. In this study, pre-emphasis technology was applied to improve our developed HF-UWB Tx module communication characteristics. As a result, we confirmed that pre-emphasis increased the communication bandwidth by 17 MHz, i.e., from 19 MHz to 36 MHz.The communication distance was also improved from 16 mm to 100 mm with BER<10^(-2) as a physical layer design index.
