(in English) A metrological standard serves as the foundation for ensuring the reliability of measurements conducted in various fields of economics, society, and science and technology. By establishing metrological standards based on solid reliability, it becomes possible to promote applied industries both domestically and internationally. In particular, frequency is the most fundamental physical quantity in the realm of electromagnetic waves, and frequency standards form the backbone of metrological standards for electromagnetic waves.
In the microwave and optical regions of electromagnetic waves, measurement standards have been established, and national standards have been developed. However, in the long-unexplored terahertz (THz) band of the electromagnetic spectrum, there has been a lack of matured light source and measurement technologies for an extended period. Consequently, a "THz Gap in Frequency Standards" still exists. Eliminating this gap in frequency standards would enable the establishment of a reliable THz frequency standard and widespread adoption of THz applied industries, including sensing and wireless communication.
In this presentation, we will discuss THz frequency standard technologies using THz frequency combs and optical frequency combs.
