Toward an Unmanned Store with an Emphasis on Efficiency in Product Replenishment

(in English) This paper describes the Remote Yatai Project as a solution to the difficulties of convenience store expansion in aging and shrinking population areas, and discusses its problems and solutions. Remote stalls are unmanned stores that are available 24 hours a day, and customer service is provided remotely via avatars. In addition, the products sold are displayed and replenished by local shopkeepers and others. Therefore, the cooperation of local shopkeepers is essential to support a project such as a remote food stall. However, the work cost of "merchandise display and replenishment" is an important point of contention because it is a new burden for shopkeepers to display their products amidst their daily business activities. Therefore, we proposed the "Weight Scale Method," "Drawer Method," and "Locklip Method" as methods to reduce work costs. The drawer method is expected to reduce work time by 77%, the weighing method by 72%, and the locklip method by 53%, respectively.
