Proposal and Evaluation of Recommendation Acceptance Tendency Scale for Overtrust Awareness

(in English) As services providing recommendations or judgments of AI (artificial intelligence) become popular, the problem of "recommendation overtrust" is emerging in which users consume articles or content without examining them. We have developed the recommendation acceptance tendency scale (RATS), which measures the tendency to accept recommendation results. This is a psychological scale that can be used as a reference to determine whether a person is suffering from recommendation overtrust. In this paper, we examine the reliability of the responses and the validity of the constructs of this scale in a social survey, and clarify the characteristics of users who tend to have a high tendency to accept recommendations from the perspective of personality. The results of the analysis confirmed a high value for Cronbach's alpha and a correlation with two perception indices of the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), which represents the acceptability of the service. This verified the reliability of the scale and the validity of the constructs. In addition, a correlation was found between the openness (one of the personality factor) and the RATS.
