This paper reports on the implementation and evaluation of DPLIM (Differential Packet-Level Index Modulation), which the authors have proposed using actual equipment. PLIM is a method for transmitting bits by assigning an index to the transmission channel and transmission time slot of a packet transmitted in LPWA (Low Power Wide Area) systems such as IoT (Internet of Things). PLIM can transmit extra information in addition to the normal packet, while taking into account the transmission time constraints (duty cycle) in LPWA. DPLIM uses the difference of transmission time to delivery the PLIM symbol in order to suppress the effect of index detection error due to the accuracy of oscillators in inexpensive radios. This paper evaluates the characteristics of the actual device with respect to oscillator accuracy. |
