Facial Symmetry Analysis Based on Extraction of Lip Region from 4D Data

(in English) We propose an image processing method using 4D data (3D point cloud containing temporal changes) to quantitatively evaluate facial symmetry before and after cleft lip surgery. The lip region is extracted based on color information to focus on the cleft lip deformity. Symmetry values are calculated by comparing the left-right difference of the lip region. As a result of the experiment, it is confirmed that our method for extracting the lip region favorably works and the symmetry values reflect the type of deformity.
