Down Conversion Less Monitoring Method for Beyond 5G RF Signal in RoF

(in English) Various research and development on Beyond 5G is being actively achieved and they aim to build a new communications infrastructure to combine wired, wireless, optical, and radio waves. There, the transmission of high-frequency signals by radio-fiber radio (Radio-over-fiber: RoF), which has high transmission efficiency, is also being vigorously studied. However, as both of the carrier and base-band frequencies increase furethermore, issues in down conversion have become more apparent and various studies for substitued approaches are currently underway. We also have proposed a method to realize direct monitoring of high-frequency signals without down conversion but with a designed optical probe for time-wavelength mapping. In this paper, we show the experiemntal results of simultaneous monitoring of a 20 GHz carrier signal and a 100 MHz baseband signal with our approach.
