Proposal of Microservices Configuration Method for In-Network Computing Environment

(in English) Microservice architecture, which develops large-scale software by linking small independent services, enables appropriate resource allocation and faster development cycles. Services developed with this architecture are being considered for use in an In-Network Computing (INC) environment, where computational processing is performed on network devices, in order to reduce latency and traffic in the network. In order to provide such services, it is essential to reduce ongoing infrastructure costs, especially the cost of INC nodes. This paper proposes an optimal configuration method for microservices that minimizes operational costs while satisfying various transmission and processing delay constraints in an INC environment. We formulate the delay constraints and cost minimization problems required for microservices, and derive solutions to configure appropriate microservices in an INC environment. The proposed method is compared with several methods and shows superior results in terms of cost minimization.
