The development of IoT devices has been remarkable in recent years, and these devices are now used in many applications that would have been unthinkable in the past. Message Queueing Telemetry Transport (MQTT), a publish-subscribe-based communication protocol used for communication between IoT devices, is a lightweight communication protocol that matches the unstable operating environment unique to IoT devices with its multiple simultaneous connections and asynchronous nature, but its security performance is not sufficient to handle information with high leakage risk such as confidential information. However, it is not secure enough to handle information with a high risk of leakage, such as confidential information, and system operators must configure security functions separately depending on the usage conditions.
The main objective of this research is to contribute to expanding the use of IoT devices by making MQTT more security-based. This study proposes a scheme to achieve variable resistance by security parameters against analysis attacks by adding noise messages with differential privacy considerations during message publication, and verifies the performance of the proposed scheme. |
