Driving Methods to Improve RMS Value of Heating Current in DAB Converter with Internal AC Heating Capability for EV Batteries and Its Study

(in English) Internal ac heating techniques utiling sinusoidal-wave current have attracted significant research attention as an efficient heating method. However, the heating time becomes longer as its rms value at a given peak current is low. Also, additional inverter is required, thus complicating the system. In this paper, we propose an internal ac heating technique that reduces the number of passive components by utilizing a transformer in a DAB converter. Proposed DAB converter can generate trapezoidal-wave currents with different rms values depending on the drive method by the PWM method, resulting in the shortened heating time. This paper refers to the results in comparison of the current rms value and the heating time by each driving methods in experimental verification and simulation verification.
