Orthogonal Constellation Design for Complexity Reduction of Downlink SCMA Systems
Leo Tomura, Takahiko Saba (CIT) RCS2023-199
Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) Sparse code multiple access (SCMA) is a non-orthogonal multiple access scheme which is to be used in the next generation communications systems. A problem inherent in SCMA is its large computational complexity that is required for detection. In this paper, we propose an amplitude shift keying-based constellation design scheme for SCMA codebooks which can reduce computational complexity required for detection. We added two additional orthogonal axes to the IQ plane along with I-axis and Q-axis, and we placed constellation points of each user on these four axes. This orthogonality reduces the number of users' signals that influence one another. This paper shows that our proposed scheme reduces complexity to 8 percent compared to conventional scheme without bit error rate (BER) degradation.
