| 抄録 | （和） | 調音位置が内向きに移動する単語は，外向きに移動する単語より好ましさが高いという現象を「インアウト効果」と言う。本研究では、日本語の実在動作オノマトペを対象とし，調音位置の移動方向とそのことばの指し示す動作の方向が関連するのかどうかを検証した。調音位置の移動と食物の摂取・吐き出し動作との類似性に着目した摂取関連説に基づくと，摂取・吐き出しの動作を表すオノマトペにおいて，調音位置の移動方向と動作の移動方向が関連することが予想された。分析の結果，子音の調音位置に関しては動作の方向に沿った移動方向の偏りは見られなかった。母音の舌の最高点の移動方向については動作の方向に沿った傾向が示されたが，摂取・吐き出し動作に限定した分析では同様の傾向は見出されなかった。これらの分析結果は，インアウト効果における摂取関連説は支持しないものの，身体化に基づく説明の可能性を示唆するものであった。 |
| （英） | The 'in-out effect' refers to a phenomenon where words with inward articulatory movements are preferred over those with outward movements. This study examined the in-out effect in Japanese existing mimetics, focusing on whether there is a relationship between the direction of the articulatory position movement and the direction of the action indicated by the mimetics. Based on the eating-related hypothesis, which focuses on the similarity between inward/outward articulation and ingestion/expectoration, it was hypothesized that there would be a correlation between the movement direction of articulatory positions and the movement direction of actions in mimetics representing ingestion and expectoration. The analysis showed no bias in the movement direction of consonant articulatory positions in line with the direction of action. While vowel backness showed a trend consistent with action direction, this pattern was not evident when focusing solely on ingestion and expectoration actions. These results do not support the eating-related hypothesis of the in-out effect, but they propose an alternative explanation rooted in embodiment. | |
