Fundamental Transmission Characteristics using MDR Function in Wi-SUN FAN Network

(in English) Internet of Things (IoT) technology has been attracting attention as a means of collecting environmental information by attaching sensors, meters, monitors, etc to various devices, and constructing networks between the devices to effectively use the collected data. Wireless Smart Utility Network for Field Area Network (Wi-SUN FAN) dynamically forms a mesh network topology and enables data collection over a wide area. The Modulation and Data Rate (MDR) function in Wi-SUN FAN 1.1 can be used to increase the communication speed between specific terminals, improving the transmission characteristics of the entire network. Therefore, it is necessary to consider how to allocate the communication speed between terminals to realize highly efficient information collection. In this paper, assuming the use of the MDR function, we evaluate the impact of changes in the transmission characteristics of a mesh network using Wi-SUN FAN by computer simulations. From the results, we will identify the causes of the MDR function producing differences in transmission characteristics and investigate methods to achieve a highly efficient network.
