Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) This paper presents a microstrip antenna (MSA) fed by an L-probe without dielectric substrates. The proposed antenna consists of a finite ground plane with a size of 150 mm x 75 mm, a rectangular radiation element, a feeding L-shaped probe, and a feeding semi-rigid coaxial cable with a characteristic impedance of 50 . The antenna size is within 75 mm x 33 mm x 10 mm and the design frequency is 2.0 GHz. The semi-rigid cable is arranged on the same surface of the ground plane as the MSA. Firstly, the proposed antenna is arranged at the center of the ground plane and is designed by using an electromagnetic simulator ANSYS HFSS to obtain good impedance matching at the design frequency of 2.0 GHz. Then, reflection characteristics, radiation patterns, and average gains in the horizontal plane are compared by using the electromagnetic simulator when the positions of the designed MSA on the finite ground plane are varied. Furthermore, the designed MSA is rotated by 90 degrees. The characteristics of the rotated MSA are compared similarly when the positions of the rotated MSA on the finite ground plane are varied. It reveals that the average gain in the horizontal plane is maximized by the rotated MSA arranged at the center of the finite ground plane.
