This report presents a new concept of electronic phantom RePH with reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS) for over-the-air (OTA) testing of continuous-wave multiple-input multiple-output (CW-MIMO) radar. The proposed method first acquires and stores the channel matrix information between the MIMO radar and the subject from the signals transmitted and received by the MIMO radar in the presence of the subject. Then, the received MIMO radar signal can be reconstructed by manipulating the radio propagation characteristics of the incoming MIMO radar signal through variable load control of RePH
while referring to the MIMO radar channel matrix information acquired in advance. This provides a simple and reproducible OTA test system for MIMO radar that can replace human subjects and conventional human phantoms. In particular, this report proposes an optimal load control algorithm that can reconstruct any received MIMO radar signal with high accuracy and shows the results of demonstrating that the proposed algorithm works well. |
