Bi-directional-Pumped Distributed Raman Amplification in C and L Bands using Incoherent Pumps with second order Pumps

Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page) 
(in English) Raman pump unit composed of wideband semiconductor incoherent optical sources as first-order pumps and conventional pumping laser as second order pumps are fabricated. We performed transmission experiments of forward Raman pumped 40km SMF transmission line by this unit and confirmed its flat on/off gain in entire C+L-band and low relative intensity noise. The effectiveness of this unit is confirmed by applying for a forward pump unit for 80km SMF line with bi-directional distribute Raman amplification.
