A vector network analyzer (VNA) using six-port reflectometers is expected to be less expensive than a conventional VNA because the main circuit consists of passive circuits such as quadrature hybrid couplers and power dividers. However, depending on the VNA specifications, there is no systematic method for determining the target performance of each component, such as the quadrature hybrid coupler and the power divider, when the specifications are determined. In this study, a method for determining the required performance of the quadrature hybrid coupler and power divider to accurately measure the device under test (DUT) when configuring a VNA using six-port reflectometers was investigated and proposed. Moreover, the target characteristics of these circuits were determined based on the proposed method. The feasibility of the target characteristics of the quadrature hybrid coupler and the power divider was verified by electromagnetic simulation. |
