OFDM transmisson method using Table Selection for Underwater Acoustic Communications

(in English) Underwater acoustic communications (UWAC) suffer from double selectivity, where doubly-selective channels suffer from severe frequency selectivity and time selectivity simultaneously. UWAC channels can be approximated by sparse channels of multiple static paths with Doppler shifts. These channels can be simplified as two-path static channels with Doppler shifts. This paper discusses the orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) as a wireless transmission technology for UWAC, which selects the suitable parameter at regular time intervals and performs two-dimensional transmission channel estimation with the selected parameter in the frequency and time directions. The feature of this method is that it prepares multiple tables of filter coefficients for channel estimation, and selects the table with the least error in estimation results on pilot symbols. Finally, computer simulations show the performance of this method on sparse two-path static channels with Doppler shifts.
