In a dual-polarized microstrip antenna configured on a narrow substrate and a narrow ground plane, the front-to-back ratio and realized gain of vertical polarization parallel to the short sides can be improved by providing ground walls at the long sides of the ground plane. On the other hand, it has been reported that in the case of horizontal polarization parallel to the long sides, the gain is reduced due to the ground conductor wall, and it is also confirmed in this report that there is a problem of narrowing the bandwidth. In this report, the effects of the ground wall on improving the characteristics of vertical polarization and the degradation of the characteristics of horizontal polarization are summarized. Furthermore, it is proposed that the structure in which the ground walls are divided into long sides reduces the electric current on the radiating element and the ground walls, and suppresses the bandwidth narrowing of horizontal polarization while maintaining the effect of improving the characteristics of vertical polarization. |
