[Invited Lecture] Sub-THz Band Horizontally Polarized Reflector Omnidirectional Antenna with TE01 Mode Circular Horn Antenna as Primary Radiator

(in English) Propagation experiments are underway to understand the propagation of the sub-THz band toward 6G. To understand the propagation characteristics, it is desirable to measure the propagation using both vertically and horizontally polarized antennas. The antennas should be omnidirectional and have a wide bandwidth. The authors have already developed a vertically polarized omnidirectional antenna in the 300 GHz band using a circular horn antenna excited in the TM01 mode and a reflector. In this report, we describe an antenna composed of a circular horn antenna excited in the TE01 mode and a reflective mirror for the purpose of developing a horizontally polarized omnidirectional antenna. Electromagnetic field calculations show that the antenna has broadband characteristics with VSWR≤2.0 in the range of 283.8 GHz to 330.0 GHz.
