Performance Evaluation of Wireless Media Access Control V-SP-MAC Considering Mobility of Terminals

(in English) In the multihop communication which has been considered as a method of information collection during disasters, the throughput decreases due to the collisions by many wireless terminals. Therefore, V-SP-MAC, an extension of media access control based on the synchronization phenomenon of coupled oscillators (SP-MAC), has been proposed to improve the performance of multihop communication. In V-SP-MAC, the synchronization range of terminals is divided and a backoff time is set for each synchronization range. V-SP-MAC can obtain higher throughput than CSMA/CA and SP-MAC by avoiding the collisions in communication range and sending data simultaneously in outside of communication one. However, the previous studies use stable mobility pattern and does not consider the real network environment. This paper evaluated the characteristics of V-SP-MAC when the terminal placement and mobility are varied. The results demonstrated that V-SP-MAC works effectively when the distance between terminals is large and the number of hops from the terminal to moving vehicle is short.
