In this paper, we propose an AP movement control method to maximize throughput in ad hoc networks with minimal movement of access points (APs), which are nodes, depending on the amount of traffic, and evaluate the effectiveness of the movement. The proposed system consists of an ad hoc network with multiple APs, and this ad hoc network is used as the backbone network to accommodate multiple terminals. In this case, we want to move the APs a minimum distance so that the amount of traffic (i.e., the capacity of the system) is sufficient to accommodate the required amount of traffic. The proposed heuristic AP movement method (UCAC method) uses a spring model to determine the optimal AP location by a simple control: the AP is given a spring extension that is pulled by the difference between the transmission rate of each link and the total traffic volume. The results of the evaluation of the proposed method showed that when the degree of throughput improvement is the same, the distance traveled can be reduced by 54.8% on average compared to the conventional method, confirming the effectiveness of the proposed method. |
