Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) Recently, various technologies have been considered to increase the speed of wireless communications.
On the other hand, as wireless communication technology improves, the number of wireless links on the communication path increases, and the impact on communication performance due to communication errors and propagation
delays has become a serious problem. Here, TCP communication, that is used in many applications, is an end-to-end
communication method. Therefore, the sending node needs to wait for an acknowledgement from the destination
node. If propagation delay is large, throughput degradation is significant. As a solution of this problem, Split
mechanism of TCP connection at a relay node has been proposed. This mechanism can improve the delay for
retransmission. Therefore, splitting TCP connection immediately after a high-loss link is effective for improving
communication efficiency. However, in previous research, the splitting nodes of TCP connection is fixed, so these
nodes are not always placed immediately after the high-loss links. In this research, we propose an adaptive splitting
mechanism of TCP connection in a network environment where heterogeneous communication links are mixed on a
route. The proposed method measures the packet loss rate on the link and dynamically changes the splitting nodes
of TCP connection according to the packet loss rate. As a result of evaluating the proposed method in an emulation
environment, it is confirmed that the proposed method can reduce the delay in the case of packet loss compared to
the previous method.
