In this paper, we consider a placement problem incorporating connectivity and task offloading into Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) based edge computing systems. In the UAV-based edge computing systems, to process tasks from users on the ground, the positions of UAVs should be properly determined. In addition, adopting task offloading enables us to utilize the computing resources of the UAVs efficiently. Furthermore, processed data can be collected efficiently by connecting the base station and the UAVs. In this paper, we propose UAV placement methods using integer linear programming. In the proposed methods, we solve the problem of maximizing the number of processing user tasks in each time slot and determine the placement of UAVs. Through numerical experiments, we show that the proposed methods can efficiently process tasks compared with the case where task offloading is not considered. |
