An Envelope-Tracking Amplifier with High Speed and High Efficiency Source-Floating GaN Switching Envelope Amplifier

(in English) This paper reports the results of an envelope amplifier with a source-floating GaN switching amplifiers and an envelope tracking amplifier using the envelope amplifier. To achieve high-speed and high-efficiency operation, this envelope amplifier has a floating structure for the source electrode of the switching device, which is conventionally grounded, and a configuration that allows the application of an appropriate voltage. The envelope tracking amplifier was fabricated by combining it with a RF power amplifier. As a result, the drain efficiency of the RF power amplifier was improved by 10 pt compared to the case without envelope tracking.
