High-speed data transfer experiment on a cutting edge 1λ1.2 T bps line

(in English) Demands to higher speeds and higher capacity communication networks are incresing. The academic information network SINET operated by NII has been increasing its capacity with each generation, in response to increasing demand for line bandwidth. And the next SINET, scheduled to start in 2028, is expected to be a higher-speed network exceeding the current SINET6 which is based on domestic 400Gbps lines.
In order to explore the feasibility of this, four companies, NII, NTT, NTT East, and Fujitsu, jointly configured an experimental network based on 1.2 Tbps per 1 light wave and executed two kinds of experiments on it:
Experiment 1: Transmission experiment over the world's longest distance as a single wave 1.2Tbps line,
Experiment 2: Data transfer experiment using the file transfer tool MMCFTP developed by NII.
The former succeeded in transmitting over the world's longest distance, and the latter achieved a transfer rate of 1.034Tbps, one of the world's fastest as a general-purpose 1-socket server.
In this report, we will report the details of this experiment, focusing on the latter.
